Scaffolding Company Sheffield
Access 4U Scaffolding is an NASC-member scaffolding company serving Sheffield and South Yorkshire: commercial, industrial, residential and heritage projects, all built to the same standard.
Built around
Sheffield’s geography
Based in Sheffield at S2 1AS, with a second office in Chesterfield (S41 9BE), our Sheffield team has erected scaffold at Bramall Lane, Ecclesall Church, Rowland Street, the Fleur De Lys in Totley and more. We know the city’s planning restrictions and the realities of working across its dense urban core and outer suburbs. Every contract comes with TG20-compliant designs and full RAMS documentation.

We work across all four service types in the city, and price every job on its own terms rather than off a template.

Commercial
From retail fit-outs in the city centre to new-build access in the Cathedral Quarter, we scaffold commercial jobs for main contractors and developers right across Sheffield.

Industrial
Steelwork maintenance, tank access and factory roof work across the Lower Don Valley and Attercliffe, with a bespoke TG30 design when the structure calls for one.

Residential & Domestic
From a chimney stack in Hillsborough to a full roof replacement in Dore, we quote Sheffield homeowners quickly and scaffold safely on tight suburban streets.

Heritage

“Have been using Access4U to support my work for the past 4 years or so. Communication is good and they always do a site search. Scaffold rigs are well thought out to meet my needs. Everything is always as agreed and on time. Harry’s lads are always well mannered, as can be the case with some companies I’ve encountered, I’m not bothered, but it sometimes does bother customers. Good to know that Access4U understand this and accommodate.”

“I’m Joseph’s Roofing and I have been using Access 4 U for about 8 years. Prior to this I’d used various companies but didn’t get the service or quality. Over the years I’ve built a good relationship with Harry and his sister Grace, and this has been another factor with my continuing use of this company. It’s a family firm into 3rd generation and knows how to treat customers, and also their staff, well. I’ve got to know the lads who build the scaffolds, hard working, professional, and most importantly they know what they’re doing, very safety aware and knowledgeable on how they should be set out.”

How much does scaffolding cost in Sheffield?
The cost of scaffolding in Sheffield depends on the size and height of the structure, access to the site, the type of scaffolding required, how long it will remain in place and whether additional requirements such as sheeting, netting, temporary roofing or a highway permit are needed.
Every project is different, so we price scaffolding individually rather than working from a fixed price list. We can assess your requirements and provide a written quotation based on the work, site conditions and programme.
Do I need a scaffolding permit in Sheffield?
If scaffolding needs to be placed on a public highway, including a pavement or footway, a permit is required from Sheffield City Council. The scaffolding company is responsible for applying for the permit, and the permit must cover the period that the scaffolding occupies the highway.
The requirements and fees depend on the property and the location. Access 4 U can advise on the requirements for your project and deal with the permit application where required.
How much notice do I need to give a scaffolding company?
The amount of notice required depends on the size and complexity of the project, site access, the type of scaffold required and when the scaffolding needs to be erected. Highway scaffolding can require additional planning because a permit is needed before scaffolding is placed on the public highway. Larger or more complex projects may also require scaffold design, drawings, calculations and coordination with other contractors.
For the best chance of securing your preferred installation date, contact us as early as possible with your site address, scope of work and target start date. We can then advise what is required and work around your project programme.
How long can scaffolding stay up in Sheffield?
There is no single maximum period that applies to every scaffold. The length of time a scaffold can remain in place depends on the project, its condition and whether it continues to be suitable and safe for use.
Scaffolding used for construction work must be inspected before first use, at intervals of no more than seven days while it remains erected, and after events that could affect its safety, such as substantial alterations, damage or adverse weather.
Access 4 U carries out regular scaffold inspections and can coordinate the scaffold with your project programme.
What types of scaffolding does Access 4 U provide in Sheffield?
Access 4 U provides scaffolding for commercial, industrial, residential and domestic, and heritage projects across Sheffield.
Depending on the project, we can provide Tube and Fitting scaffolding, Layher system scaffolding and bespoke scaffold designs.
The appropriate system is selected according to the requirements of the building, site and work being carried out.
Do you provide residential and domestic scaffolding in Sheffield?
Yes. Access 4 U provides residential and domestic scaffolding across Sheffield for projects including roof repairs and replacement, chimney work, extensions, rendering, repointing and other building and maintenance work.
Our Sheffield projects include scaffolding for homes in areas such as Dore and Hillsborough, including work around chimney stacks and full roof replacements. Every residential scaffold is assessed according to the property, access requirements and work being carried out.
Do you provide scaffolding for listed and heritage buildings in Sheffield?
Yes. Access 4 U provides specialist scaffolding for listed and heritage buildings across Sheffield.
Heritage projects can require a different approach to standard scaffolding because access, fixing points and the protection of historic fabric need to be considered during planning and installation. We work with project teams and conservation officers where required and can use Tube and Fitting scaffolding and bespoke designs to suit the building.
Our Sheffield work includes heritage projects such as Ecclesall Church and other historic properties.
How often does scaffolding need to be inspected?
Scaffolding used for construction work should be inspected before it is used for the first time, at intervals of no more than seven days while it remains erected, and following circumstances that could affect its safety, such as substantial alteration, damage or adverse weather.
Inspections must be carried out by a competent person. The inspection should identify any defects or issues that could present a risk and record the action taken where necessary.
Access 4 U provides regular scaffold inspections as part of its site safety and compliance procedures.
